"From the moment I walked into the door I felt as though I was the most important person in the room. I was waited on promptly. The dentist came in to greet me and to make sure he wasn’t needed. My dental hygienist was wonderful and caring. She did a great job on my cleaning and took the time to provide future dental advice. Great atmosphere!" -Deborah P.

When you are looking for a new dentist it can be difficult to tell a good one from a bad one without sitting in the exam chair first. Yet, there are several ways to tell if a dentist is worth visiting without having to step foot into the office. Looking through their website and checking testimonials is a great way to weed out the best dentist for you and your family.

What Makes a Great Dentist?

Education – Obviously your dentist should have their dental degree, but their education and training should go beyond just general dentistry. New and better procedures are being developed constantly so your dentist should be receiving training for these procedures in order to offer you the most current in dental care. All three of the dentists at Oak Family Dentistry graduated with their dental degree from Louisiana State University and continue getting training in modern procedures such as CEREC restoration, Invisalign, and 3i Dental Implants.

Experience – It is said that practice makes perfect and that is also true for dentistry. A dentist that has been practicing longer, or who has plenty of experience in specific procedures will be more efficient than one fresh out of school. Dr. Troy L. Patterson has been practicing dentistry for thirty-five years so you can be sure you are receiving the best care in the Metairie area.

They care – Your dentist should treat you like more than just a number. When your dentist takes the time to get to know you, they will have a better idea of how to treat you. It will also make you feel more comfortable as you learn to trust them and their professional advice. Our dentists and their team do their best to make you feel as valuable as you are to our practice and will take the time to answer all of your questions before any treatments.
