Have you been told that you need a crown but don’t have time to make multiple trips to the dentist?
This is a common complaint because we all have commitments and obligations that make it hard to chisel several hours out of our schedule for a dental appointment. But with CEREC crowns, the two to three-week process has been shrunk down to a single appointment at your dentist's office.
What is CEREC?
CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It’s a complicated way of saying that your restoration is fabricated right there in the dentist’s office while you wait.
How is this possible? Thank technology! In recent years, dental medicine has undergone a dramatic transformation with the availability of state-of-the-art technology like CEREC.
The CEREC Process
If you have any doubt about the impact that technology has made on dentistry, watch CEREC in action. Here’s how it works:
Do you dread the messy pink paste and discomfort that goes with traditional impressions? Today, your dentist takes state-of-the-art digital impressions that are comfortable and produce highly detailed and accurate results.
The information from the impressions is used with CEREC software to design a virtual 3-D model of your new crown. All the custom specifications are sent to a milling machine in our office that cuts your new restoration right before your eyes. Then the restoration is adjusted for fit and cemented onto your tooth.
Is CEREC Right for You?
You don’t have to be in a rush to enjoy the convenience of same-visit CEREC crowns; anyone who needs a crown, bridge, inlay, or onlay is a good candidate because the cost for a CEREC crown is about the same as for a lab-fabricated crown.
The doctors at Oak Family Dental have placed many CEREC crowns in Metairie, LA, and they can help you too. Please call our office for a commitment-free consultation so we can get started.
